It is important that parents keep up with their children's schooling...and
in particular Mathematics.
Whilst successive governments tinker with the National
Curriculum and exam boards keep changing their subject specifications, mathematics generally stays unchanged in the content
delivered in schools. Some topics are moved in or out of a syllabus or module and the emphasis in a particular area might
change. To the parents who were educated in a different era and the students who struggle in
the present, use the 'Maths Courses' and 'Websites'
pages to help you tiptoe through the 'minefield'.
The Solutions & Notes give examples of questions in the style used by 'mossmaths'
in supporting your sons and daughters in their studies. Below are some
of the comments made by staff about the work done by Richard Moss in their schools and.......
...feedback from Heads of
Maths in Birmingham
From Sharon Smith, Head of Maths, Turves Green Boys School
and Technology College....
“I cannot thank Richard enough for the excellent and professional support he has given me and the pupils
of Turves Green Boys. The lessons delivered were effective, interesting, relevant and motivating. (I am particularly
impressed by Richard’s ability to adapt at short notice).
From Sue Wilding, Shenley Court School, on Richard working with a large group of
intermediate students trying to raise their 'mock' results to a 'C' grade.......
“On talking to
the Year 11 students we have found...... They have benefited from a different voice giving them hints and concrete
advice. You have pointed out clearly and succinctly what they need to do in order to achieve their grade C. You have
given them confidence in their own abilities. Your obvious experience and thorough knowledge of the subject matter
was evident in your dealings with both staff and pupils.”
From Faye Tunstall, Head
of Maths, John Willmott School
“I found the Masterclasses
very successful and aimed to help pupils understand what was going on with plenty of visual opportunities. The resources
were integrated into the lesson so that pupils had chance to investigate for themselves and formulise “what happens
when....?”
I look forward to Richard working with a new
cohort next year".
